Eco Factor: Recyclable housing unit is entirely self-sufficient.

Thinking about the future of living and adapting quickly to the change in requirements and the need to be self-sufficient in terms of energy, designers Alberto Lara and Paula Nogueron have come up with a prefabricated module-based living unit they call ADEX. The ADEX living unit is just like a parasite where it nourishes itself and the inhabitants on the natural sources that surround it.

The housing unit is constructed using a triangle-based construction system that allows for greater adaptability and self-sufficiency where each of the triangular modules is equipped with energy harnessing systems to keep the unit off-grid. The module-based architecture also allows the users to re-install the dwelling at any place with minimum of efforts.

The triangular modules gather solar energy, which is used by photovoltaic cells to provide electricity, while other solar collectors just take care of water heating. The organic waste generated by the inhabitants is used to make natural gas and natural fertilizer, which again is used up by the people living inside.
