Now is the time to think a bit about environment, even top leading electronics industry leaders has already started working in this regard. Sony and Toshiba have now decided to increase the process of electronics recycling to 1 billion pounds annually by 2016. That means the e-recycling will be increased to triple amount which was done in 2010 (about 300million pounds). It was in November only, when president Obama felt the need for some comprehensive solution while establishing an interagency e-waste task force-charged with developing a national strategy.

The pledge of electronics industry leaders will create an awareness in about 5,000 current collection sites. The thought is also supported by Consumer Electronics Association(CEA). In same regard, Walter Alcorn, CEA’s Vice president of environmental affairs and industry sustainability sated,

This unique industry-led approach transcends the patchwork of current state recycling regulations with an aggressive set of industry goals and standards. The billion pound challenge is about both the quality and quantity of electronics recycling.

The CEA team is ready to try out and get the third party certification, for quality control, to make sure that the screwed electronics do not get dumped overseas. The Association is also planning to get an online link to help the consumers in identifying the recycling options.
