Donkeys have been man’s close associate from time immemorial. Looks like its true that old practices die hard – despite all the technological advances, the donkey still proves to be man’s good old buddy.
Donkey pulling a cart or a FUV (Farm Utility Vehicle) in African countries is a commonplace sight but what is ingenious is that these carts now have solar panels mounted on them, that harnesses and stores solar energy in the 12V battery fitted under the driver’s seat.
This set-up called “HAPPY”, powers cell phones, front and rear emergency lights and a small neon tube that illuminates the night. All in all the setup has proved to be of immense utility for tourists. HAPPY could add on a water purifier system for an added income.
With a mobile phone kiosk, spaza shop and a fresh water outlet, “HAPPY” could go multiplex sooner or later.
