This venture into producing alternative energy is far beyond that of its federal counterparts. Denver has planned to build its own solar plant. The city of Denver, Colorado is initiating a project to build one of the first municipality -owned solar power plants in the US.
The project aims to generate enough electricity to provide power to more than 1,000 homes. It is at an industrial portion of the Stapleton development near Havana Street and Smith Road, the plant would be built. For buying the electricity from the city and reselling to consumers, Xcel Energy will act as the distributor.
