Dazzling Sunshine: India to house the World’s Largest Solar Array!

It is nice to know that in a country where alternate resources are generally used on a non-existent basis despite having enormous potential to do so, India seems to finally have a green project that seriously aims at capturing Solar power and does that in a spectacular green fashion. Irrespective of the part of the world you live in it has become mandatory for everyone to try and switch to renewable sources not just to help out the planet but also help themselves.

While China and India have been two of the major thorns in the recent environment treaties by shouting out aloud that there was no way they could abide by them, efforts like this Solar array in Gujarat do help change that perception to an extent. The world’s largest solar energy project is currently in its planning phases, and it looks like it’s going to be absolutely enormous. Planned for Gujarat, India, it’ll be producing 5 Giga Watts of power when all is said and done.

The plan is to build an array that’s five times the size of the current largest solar project in the world. It’ll cost about $475 million to construct, and all the production and manufacturing will be done on site, employing local workers and using local materials. The current largest solar array in the world produces 900 megawatts of power, so this 5 gigawatt plan gives you an idea of its scope. That is trying to generate some seriously large energy from solar power and that is something to be happy about. Let us see how it pans out and by when it would actually be operational.
