The hottest sun of the year is also the highest; this means your air conditioner will be eating up power to prevent you from getting baked in your own house.
Some architects have now come with amazing window-designs that not only make your house beautiful but also makes it more energy-efficient. With precise calculations these architects were able to figure out the angle at which the windows should be installed so that they act as a shade during those hot summer days and let the sunlight in during winter months. This way the house remains much cooler in summer and at a cozy temperature in winters.
These architects came to the magical angle (which is 71 degrees for Chicago) using advanced computer generated models. They then crafted the windows in sawtooth shape that finally made the building energy-efficient.
These unique designs have been incorporated in a 26-story condominium dubbed Windermere West destined for Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood.
