Technologies collectively known as Concentrating Photovoltaics will make solar energy much cheaper than it is today.
This is due to the advancements in solar cells, which absorb sun’s light and convert it into electricity.
The traditional means of generating solar energy include Silicon cells, which are expensive and less efficient.
Sharp Corporation has unveiled its new system using a new system for focusing sun light on to the super efficient solar cells using Fresnel lenses.
These super efficient cells are twice as much efficient than the conventional silicon cells. And all together this technology needs less infrastructure to generate the same amount of power as generated by a 4-square mile farm of Silicon solar cells.
