Here is one lighting system that we dearly wish would cast more light on how it actually works. With technology taking rapid strides forward in the way lighting is being perceived and used in today’s electronic gadgets, even LEDs are soon becoming a thing of the past. It is interesting to note that it appears as if the majority of the world will not use LEDs commercially and might just skip ahead to OLEDs by the time the technology is commercially viable. Cohda Design Limited, though, has come up with a very unique lighting system that could change the world for the better.
Crypsis is low-voltage LED technology that is transparent and adapts to the environment around it with ease. The best part of the technology is not just the fact that it consumes very low power but that it actually does not need the wires and the traditional power source to light it up. Now, we all know that energy cannot be created out of thin air, so we have to assume at this point that Cohda has developed a technology that allows the LED lights to extract energy either from the sun or the surroundings to light up at night.
Considering that Cohda wishes to keep the patented technology close its chest for now, there is no real way of knowing how the whole thing works. All one can say is that it looks brilliant, sounds great and hopefully is not a dud that will fizzle out into nothing over time. If Crypsis goes commercial, then it would surely put out all our wiring woes in our homes!
