Civic Center Viñagrande bioclimatic structure maximizes use of solar energy

Civic Center ViñagrandeThe new Civic Center Viñagrande in Spain is sure to be a head turner due to its exquisite architecture and the fascinating use of colors. The building has been constructed flexible enough to adjust to various climatic requirements throughout the year. The skylights at the top of the building provide natural lighting to large dark spaces. These glass panels could also be opened automatically. Even though the initial costs for this bio-climatic building is high, the total energy costs is said to be minimal and it would also facilitate in creating a more healthy environment.

The Civic Center in Madrid, Spain has colored bands all around the building which gives an interesting look. The pointed roof top facilitates easier installation of solar panels on the top of the building. The facade is fixed with vertically mounted, cream colored large ceramic plates. The facades are designed according to the needed requirements in different parts of the building with diverse opening measures and types of glass panels in order to reduce the solar radiation. The air conditioned atrium acts like an insulation that helps in controlling the indoor climate.

The new Civic Center Viñagrande has many multipurpose rooms, with restaurants and dance rooms in the first floor, workshops in the ground floor and three underground floors for parking.
