China’s Guangzhou to, soon, see solar-powered lights on its street. The streetlights to run on the Cree’s XR-E LEDs, will be installed by North Carolina’s Cree in collaboration with Multi-Cell Semiconductor.
These new solar lights will have their solar panels set on top of the lamp themselves providing 70 lumens per watt. Thus these relatively new LEDs seem to be more energy-efficient compared to compact fluorescent lamps. Need no mention; these would be anyway better than conventional lights in respect to energy-saving.
Starting with only 20 streetlamps, these solar lights would surely one day be able to meet the massive health crisis and hence huge expenditures caused by coal-burning plants in its own way.
