Eco Factor: 500GW of renewable electric power to be added to Chinese grid by 2020.
The Chinese government has published an ambitious renewable energy plan for the next 10 years. The plan, which calls for a total of 500GW of renewable electrical power on the grid by 2020, will see a massive increase in the country’s current renewable energy sector.
The government will explode from power from a mere 25GW to a staggering 150GW, ethanol production will be increased from 2 million tons to 10 million tons, hydroelectricity will increase from 200GW to 300GW, solar power will rise from 0.5GW to 20GW and there will be increases in the biogas, solar thermal and biopower sectors as well.
