China, the world’s biggest greenhouse gas emitter, has decided to make more investments for sustainable power generation. With industrialization going at its peak and economy growing at a pace, electricity generation needs to be addressed. China is currently dependent on thermal power generation, carbon belching coal, for almost 70 percent of its energy needs. So, the country has almost doubled its target for solar power capacity to 50 gigawatts for 2020. China’s power requirement is one of the highest in the world.
Solar power generation helps protect the environment by eliminating pollution and its by-products. World leading economies rely on Chinese manpower to develop solar panels. Vast experience in developing solar panels for other economies helps China in building the necessary infrastructure for its own solar power needs. The solar power generation helps to satisfy the electricity needs of both rural and urban provinces of China.
The country hopes to generate 10 gigawatts of power by 2015 and 50 gigawatts by 2020 while its current installed capacity is less than one gigawatt. With technology developing every day and with the availability of abundant labor, sky is the limit for China for developing and sustaining solar power.
