Nearby villages most often fall prey to hungry wild elephants. Following three villagers killed by elephants last year in a Chinese village, the Chinese officials muted an innovative and interesting plan to keep them away from farmland — by offering them with “dinner halls” with banana and sugar on the menu!-according to the state media.
Wildlife officials have already set aside 70 ha (170 acres) for building “dining halls” for them! To entice the animals away the officials are planning to plant bananas and sugarcane several kilometers from the villages, Xinhua reported.
