town councilman tim white 9The Public Works Department’s diesel vehicles of Cheshire will soon be powered by the renewable energy source – biodiesel. With the founding of BioPur, earlier this year, the company is now capable of producing 450,000 to 1.5 million gallons of biodiesel a year! This can meet both the transportation and heating requirements for people living in New England.

Although more than 600 major commercial vehicle fleets are using bio-diesel presently, it can also be used in the Public Works Department’s diesel truck fleet making no major modification, according to National Biodiesel Board.

Republican Town Councilman Tim White said,

My number one concern is reducing dependence on oil from the Middle East and Iraq. But there are other benefits, like reducing emissions, which makes for a cleaner environment.

He further justifying the necessity of biodiesel production in the town said,

Another advantage in using biofuels is supporting the state’s economy.

While says that by Cheshire using the renewable energy source,
