Eco Factor: Sustainable underwater light powered by solar energy.
Swimming pools aren’t generally environmentally friendly as a lot of chemicals are often used to sterilize water and a lot of energy is consumed in keeping the pumps running. Industrial designer Daria Shashorina is trying to add some eco-credentials to swimming pools by replacing disinfectants with an inflatable solar-powered light.
Daria has conceptualized the Calypso, a solar-powered inflatable light that not only adds shimmer to your pool, but also disinfects water with ultraviolet light. The power to light-up the Calypso comes from solar batteries that are placed in the center, covered by hard shells as packaging.
