With more and more people getting into the trend of having lunch in the office, the production and hence concern for the lunch leftover heap — to be headed for the landfill just to rot slowly contaminating the environment – is increasing.
California – an environmentally aware state – has come up with an innovative idea to compost and recycle the whole lunch leftover! Yes, it is encouraging public and private-sector employees to bring worms to work! The creatures will be chewing up apple cores, sandwich scraps and other lunch leftovers, producing compost.
To add to, this compost will not go waste! The employees are encouraged to then take the stuff home and use the all-natural fertilizer in their gardens and on their houseplants. Isn’t it a brilliant way of serving both your pocket and the environment?
