The building’s green roof will provide an undulating huge living space. This roof will not only provide better ambience but also provide sustainable benefits and great insulation. The roof will also be able to maintain the temperature of the building and prevent approximately two million gallons of rainwater from becoming storm-water runoff. The best feature of the design is that it requires very little maintenance.

A part of the roof will also be visible to museum visitors as well, featuring a landscaping exhibition space. This new building will complement the academy’s initiative to “understand and protect the natural world around us.

This building will also house an aquarium, planetarium, and exhibition spaces. Engineers involved in the project hope that the building should be open to public in 2008. Well the green roof is not the only green thing in the building as it will also use some of the most cutting-edge energy-efficient technologies that include daylighting, possible biofuels and will reuse water.
