Buildings that dance to the tune of winds to generate power!

self powered dynamic eco architecture

For centuries man has been amazed by the structures that are built around him. While those who build them have constantly surprised us both with creativity & technological know-how, they also have challenged our understanding of architectural dynamics. From the stone hedge to the pyramids, the mysterious & the marvelous of the architectural world have captivated our imagination. While modern architecture is making rapid strides in not only redesigning the available methods of building but also in maximizing the available space for construction, it is also taking in to account the energy needs of all such structures.

It was not very long ago that Singapore put forward its plan to build the world’s first revamped zero energy building. UAE is indeed one of the front runners in creating designs that have startled & pleasantly surprised people the world over. Now Dubai intends to build a structure that is about to redefine all the existing laws of architectural construction & might just usher the next era of architecture. The buildings that are being designed by David Fisher under the ‘Dynamic Architecture’ project are truly ‘dynamic’ to say the least.

These unbelievable structures are made in such a fashion that the floors of the building constantly move to generate very high amounts of energy. The building will use the energy of the wind to generate this power to re-shape itself all the time. The building is like discs of metal placed on top of one another that can freely slide & rotate on an axis. The concept sounds absolutely mind boggling & looks more like fantasy than fiction. The building is capable of producing energy to run 10 such towers!

While all this still sounds too unbelievable to believe & quite frankly I would never feel to happy to work on the top floor of a building whose floors change & swirl to the direction of the wind, I’m sure the engineers have worked out a way to make this building a real possibility. It is a project that would materialize very soon & you bet I would come back to tell you how good it really is. I’m keeping a close eye on this one.
