Britain’s greenest refueling station gets approval

Aiming to reinvent the motorway services for the eco-conscious generation, Britain plans its greenest refueling station. Located between junctions 11a and 12 on the M5, Gloucester Gateway project will use locally-sourced timber for construction, 10% of its energy generated on-site and over half of its waste will be composted and used in the vegetable gardens.

The £35million gas station will also include features like grass roof, a veggie garden, biofuel pumps and electric vehicle rechargers. Westmorland, the developer has approved the design and hope to complete it for opening in 2013. The food will be locally sourced, meaning no fast food chain concessions would be required. The future bring down carbon emissions, the staff will be transported in buses.
