Are you wondering what is hanging on the trees in the Dutch suburbs? Well this is Boomwonen, a house meant for living. These hanging homes are the creation of a Dutch artist, Roel de Boer. The artist finds the life of cities very stuffy, so he has found a place close to nature. But it never means that he totally dislikes city life. The public life and enriching diversity of the city draws him towards itself. Therefore, he has effectively found out a way to mingle both nature and city life. Since everyone cannot afford a farmhouse for himself, creating such houses on the trees can help people remain close to the environment.

According to the artist, climbing up a tree helps in recharging our body. Trees also provide a great view of the city around and the leaves provide a nice cool place to rest. Such homes are truly beneficial in the present fast life, as it really helps people to rest, sleep and unwind.

Building homes in the trees needs some special methods. An inflatable beach ball is placed between the branches. About twenty layers of old paper are pasted around the ball to cover it. After the paste dries up, the whole structure is polished to help it withstand the effects of bad climate.

The good thing is that these tree houses are movable. The ball can be easily deflated and moved to some other place. Roel de Boer has great plans to build a colony of these hanging tree houses to replace the crowded Dutch suburban landscape. It will also help people reunite with nature.
