Created by Greg Lynn, one of Time Magazine’s 100 most innovative people for the 21st century, the Blobwall Pavilion is a freestanding indoor/outdoor wall system that seeks to make traditional building materials like brick and mortar obsolete. The modular building system is not only fun, but also sustainable with each of the modules being robotically cut and formed out of low-density, recyclable, impact-resistant polymer.
Currently on display at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in Los Angeles, the installation is set to make a grand debut at the 11th Venice Biennale which bears the proud and mysterious title of Out there: Architecture Beyond Building, and presents a building experiment that seeks to replace the century’s oldest building materials.
