Bath and Bristol Universities team up to create car fuel from ambient CO2

Eco Factor: Porous material to absorb CO2 and convert it into hydrogen or electricity.

A team of researchers from the Bath and Bristol Universities are working together to find new ways to capture carbon dioxide from the ambient air and convert it to car fuel. The project finds ways to develop porous materials that can be used to line factory chimneys to capture carbon dioxide from the air and reduce the effects of climate change.

The idea is to power the entire process by renewable solar energy to further minimize emissions. All processes that are in use today rely on using separate technology to capture and use CO2, which makes them highly inefficient. Using the new technique, capturing CO2 and reusing it will be made more efficient.
