What an irony for humans by humans! — Eco-friendly bullets! ‘Save the environment for the humans and other lives on earth’ – but, unfortunately the global political situation do not seem to allow that. If you put down weapons, your counterpart will raise it hard!
So, if not humans, the British weapons manufacturer BAE Systems has decided to at least save the environment by developing lead-free bullets and a range of other environmentally friendly armaments for reducing contamination in the battlefield and health risks for the armed forces.
A spokesperson for the company told,
There are no lead-free bullets as yet although it is a project we’re working on. What we do have at the moment are reduced toxicity bullets… We’re also working on insensitive munitions which reduce the danger of handling and storage.
She further said,
The manufacture of our products has a very low impact compared with other industries but where we can do things like change the kind of materials we use, we will consider it… By reducing any toxicity in our munitions where possible we can reduce the impact…not only for the working environment for our employees, but the environmental damage in the long term.
