It’s getting all watery, ‘water on water’ is the new definition of luxury. A handful of companies are seeing including water element as a luxury attraction, while adding value to their latest developments. One such firm is Crystal Lagoons that create artificial lagoons. Looking at how dangerous and difficult it can get to swim in freezing cold and rough waters, Crystal Lagoons came up with the idea of developing artificial lagoon give people the opportunity to enjoy taking a plunge into the water.

The company has around 150 projects in hand and is presently busy developing its largest lagoon project. The $5 billion project currently under construction at Sharm Al Shaikh includes a main lagoon of 12 hectares with 10 other lagoons. Fernando Fischmann, chairman of Crystal Lagoons built the first lagoon, measuring one kilometre, near the Chilean city of Valparaiso 14 years ago and has since patented the technology involved in the construction of a lagoon.

The beautiful lagoons by Crystal Lagoons use less space, 50 times less energy than other filtration systems, 100 times fewer chemicals than treated tap water and recycled water. Schon Properties’ Dubai Lagoon development will soon be delivered by the two-and-a-half years lagoon developing firm. Other projects include the 4.5-hectare Dead Sea lagoon, a Sama Jordan project set for completion in mid-2011. It will also develop lagoons for Kingdom Holding’s tower, City-stars, a residential development in Turkey and one in India’s Amby Valley.
