Hummer is without doubt the strongest car to hit the road so far, but the Hummer brand is now not in operation after the company stopped producing these cars as a result of the economic crisis. This, however, does not mean that old Hummers are useless and should be placed in dumps. Architects Craig Hodges and HsinMing Fung have shown that the car can be used in a different manner, making a living space using body shells of Hummer.
Hodges and HsinMing, who started working together in 1984, have named their new house HummerHaus. The duo runs an agency named HplusF and is well-known for their artistic skill and the ability to design things from materials, which appear useless to others. The pair has worked at the UCLA library, Hollywood Bowl, and Egyptian Theater, to name a few.
At this point of time, the HummerHaus is nothing more than a concept, but I must say that it is a superb idea. The duo used eight body shells of Hummer to design the HummerHaus. Hodges and HsinMing’s concept is laudable because it shows that we could use old vehicles to develop living spaces, which will definitely be beneficial for us economically. When General Motors decided to stop manufacturing Hummer, we thought it is the end of road for the beast, but the concept of HummerHaus might infuse a fresh lease of life into Hummer.
