Recharging batteries face one main problem – There is never a wall socket nearby when you are desperate in need for some charge. A Japanese company Aqua Power Systems wants to solve this problem by developing a battery that can be charged anywhere, anytime. This vision has made them develop a unique battery that can be powered with a wide variety of liquids that even includes water and urine.

The company has named this battery NoPoPo and it comes in standard AA and AAA formats. Rumors also state that the company is looking forward to develop large capacity batteries for use in auxiliary power supplies. Users need to insert the preferred liquid into a chamber via a pipette. This triggers a chemical reaction between a mixture of magnesium and carbon and this finally results in up to 500 mAh of life.

The battery is claimed to retain charge up to 10 years but they can only be recharged a limited number of times. The batteries are more environment-friendly since they use better compounds than those found in conventional batteries. For now the batteries are Japan only and there is no news when global customers might get value for their urine!
