Apple defends its environmental initiatives

Apple has recently been criticized by certain environmental organizations for not paying attention towards the green initiative.

To defend the company’s environmental initiative the company has posted an open letter on its website in which CEO Steve Jobs has laid an overview of the Apple’s effort to lower its carbon content as it has eliminated the manufacture of CRTs and has stopped using harmful compounds like arsenic and mercury in manufacturing LCD screens. The company has also banned the use of polyvinyl chloride and brominated flame retardants in its packaging for several years.

Jobs has also revealed some future plans of the company to raise the recycle amount of e-waste by 30%. The company has also provided some schemes to encourage its consumers to help them recollect the waste material for recycling and proper disposal. According to a scheme company has promised a discount of 10% replacement for any customer that returns a broken iPod to any of the 150 Apple stores. The return policy will be expanded to all retail stores worldwide by this summer and free shipping will also be offered for the customers with in the United States.
