Solar Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd has announced its cell purchase agreement with ersol Solar Energy AG of Germany in time for the “Solar Power 2007” solar cell-related event being held in the United States.

Solar Semiconductor’s objective is to use vertical integration, economies of scale and R&D in new technologies to make solar energy solutions affordable and price competitive and thus fulfill its social and global responsibility of reducing environmental pollution.

In accordance with the multi-year agreement with ersol to supply $170 million equivalent cell supply to the company, Solar Semiconductor plans to increase its output to 100 MW per year by 2008. Single-crystal Si cells will be used by Solar Semiconductor to produce high-power solar cell modules.

Hopefully as more companies start manufacturing solar cells, it will gradually become cheaper and more cost effective to produce solar energy from the sun.
