Eco Factor: Residential towers with common green space.

When asked to design a residential complex for Songdo Landmark City, Seoul, the NY-based architecture firm REX came up with some really anemic skyscrapers. The towers, called Block A4, jointly create a new urban center with a true publicly accessible park at grade.

The residential towers will house a total of approximately 2,000 units, community facilities, retail, and underground parking. Each of four towers shares a green space between them. The amenities for all the residents include south-facing windows, cross-ventilation and views onto a public park below. Moreover, since each of the units fit inside the building’s core, the core acts as façade.
