Some advanced designs have that futuristic appeal to them, but some wondrous conceptions manage to imbue in us a rather consuming sense of reminiscence and antiquity. Well, Fernando Ponce’s electric bi-directional, retro tricycle certainly falls into that latter category, and it does allure us with its ‘green’ demeanor.
Inspired by those early 20th century classic tricycles, the graceful design incorporates a frame composed of two joint wooden panels. But hidden within these panels are the sturdy framework and the batteries. The zero emission bike will be powered by a front wheel internal hub motor and can be effortlessly controlled with a handle grip. The only problem can be the relatively heavy weight of the wooden construction, in effect creating more pressure on the wheel joints. But with time, the design is certainly expected to motivate us with its improved mechanical prowess, as it has done with its sublime aesthetics.
