AMPLIO Electric Motorcycle Concept combines range extension with zero emission

What if there was an electric motorcycle conception, in which you could just as easily replace the whole battery unit for a newly charged one, and that too in a jiffy in the middle of your zero emission journey? Now that would be utterly convenient both in terms of time saving and flexibility of ride. And that is exactly what designer Sebastian Tymoczko has meticulously visualized in the form of the AMPLIO Electric Motorcycle Concept.

The designer has conceptualized a unique system where the rider along with his electric motorbike can enter a conveniently accessible Better Place battery switch station. This station will make use of an automated switch platform that can ‘pluck’ a depleted battery from underneath the motorcycle. The battery will then be placed onto a storage rack for charging, monitoring and preparation for another vehicle. A fully charged battery will then be lifted and incorporated into the waiting motorcycle.

All of these will be possible because of the motorcycle’s inherent design mechanism, which allows a light weighted aluminum rack and a bottom placed battery tray to lock the 10 kWh capacity lithium-ion battery into its place. When the charging process commences, this rack can be opened to recharge the whole battery unit. Other than that, the bike will also feature an ergonomic seating position, regenerative rear wheel braking, Supersport tires and sealed permanent synchronous AC motor. The controls of the bike will not include clutch and gears for easy riding.

According to the designer, the recharging process will take much less time than an ordinary petrol filling process, especially because in this case the driver will remain seated in his position during the whole automated process. Moreover, the substantial range (160 km) of the battery can actually allure more customers than the traditional urban scope.
