Huge promises of algae cultivation for biofuel is showing no success, as its development is incredibly slow. But, recently GreenFuel Technologies and Arizona Public Service Company (APS) have grown algae 37 times more than corn and 140 times more than soybeans with the aid of CO2.
The algae cultivation will effectively serve multiple end users. For instance, oils will be transformed to bio diesel, starches to ethanol and protein for animal feed. To make this dream project commercially possible, GreenFuel Technologies and Arizona Public Service Company (APS) integrated in the year 2006.
In the 3D Matrix System, GreenFuel has performed a two week field testing. 3DMS is quite different from the transparent tubing. It has also been informed that matrix system also boosts photosynthesis. The purpose of this project is to check the performance for two weeks. 80 g/m2/d was decided as the target to attain on the basis of earlier performance.
Performance of 3DMS effectively attained the goals. Now, they are planning to test this system on coal fired plant. Thus, algae produced by the electricity wastage will surely reduce green house emissions!
