Adamo-Faiden: Designing homes from recycled glass!

chal 1 aIF1G 7071
There are plenty who design buildings to make sure that they stand out from the crowd. But this pair of Argentinean architects has decided that they would design a space that would stand out for the way it has been built. Making structures out of recycled bottles is nothing new, but making stylish modern homes with recycled bottles and you cannot even spot one in the entire structure after the completion of it! More than magic, it is the simple fact that they decided to use discarded bottles as a raw material to build homes.

Argentinean architects Adamo-Faiden have completed the renovation of a house in Buenos Aires that features an exterior clad in crushed glass bottles. Based on a traditional technique where quartz is embedded in white plaster, the transparent glass bottles were crushed and added to the white cement surface. Now I wonder how smooth the surface comes out as it does not look that smooth and if one were to accidentally brush against it, then it might really rip through your skin. I do not really know about this aspect, but it looks like a genuine problem in the structure or there is something here that I missed.

Irrespective of all that, the project still is aimed at recycling and that is a good thing. Hopefully more such designs will come and in a far less abrasive way!
