Absorption of CO2 by dry water helps reduce global warming

Eco Factor: Scientists discover environmentally friendly uses of dry water.

Scientists have been working on the most intricate ways to store carbon dioxide. However a particular study team working at the University of Liverpool under Professor Andrew Cooper has devised a simple way to store the gas. The team has found that dry water absorbed carbon dioxide three times faster than uncombined water and silica in the same amount of time. The gas combined with water molecules to form a hydrate which is believed to be ideal for reducing global warming. Since dry water could also absorb methane gas, the team thinks that it would make natural gas a more environmentally viable energy source.
