Eco Factor: Sustainable habitat based on passive solar housing techniques.
Architect Aaron Beyers has conceptualized a sustainable housing solution to educate those less familiar with concepts of green living and being able to co-exist with the natural environment. Utilizing passive solar housing techniques, the sustainable dwelling takes advantage of sun’s energy for heating and illumination.
The architects aim to create the building from recycled materials such as salvaged steel from local industrial zones and timber. The house is intended to be assembled as a series of prototypical, prefabricated components that minimize cost, labor and site impact.
The design incorporates several systems to control natural breezes and sunlight and reduce energy consumption. A series of prefabricated façade and roof panels are used and are independently operable to maximize interior comfort. The roof also incorporates an accessible green roof system that is used for cooling purposes within the house.
