A Lunar car powered by solar energy!

lunar car powered by solar energy

Ever wanted to see how the men who first landed on the moon roamed around in their lunar vehicle? Well, here is your perfect chance to recapture that magic. Ok, not the perfect chance and neither is it going to be ‘magic’. But hey, it still might be worth it if you are trying to usher a young mind in to the world of electronics and lunar rovers. This is the bright little toy called the ‘Lunar-Car’ and I assume the only reason they named it so is because it looks as crude and ungainly as the first vehicle used on the moon.

But it is not that ungainly too as it seems to be balanced enough to go over most rough surfaces. It will not get caught or stuck up at any point and maintains immaculate balance even on the most undulating surfaces. Ok, maybe that is why it is called the Lunar-Car. It looks still very crude though and I would have liked a nice shiny top on it. (I’m talking about top body work of vehicles). The toy is a ‘build it yourself’, so anyone as lazy as me might not really be interested.

As I have told earlier, it might be a good way for your kid to get started in electronic assembling of components as it looks very simple indeed. Moreover, it runs on the two solar panels that are placed on top of it. So I suppose it promotes some amount of environmental awareness in kids. It comes with a dimensions of17 x 8 x 13.2 cm and also has a user manual that is easy to understand. It is billed as a solar powered robot, but I would not really say it is one. At around €32, it is a bit too much to spend for just the electronics and would not appeal to many as it is devoid of any glitz. Is it a good Christmas present? Not for the 99% of the kids out there, that is for sure.
