A book that could begin with the Eagles & end with the King!

recod books

I know that my fascination towards music is sometimes indeed a bit archival. I do believe that most often than not, that criticism stems from either the ignorance of those I talk to or due to a simple difference in taste. While I do admit that I never lived in the era of the ‘Eagles’ or ‘The King-Elvis’, I still would believe that they are among my most favorite performers. So when I get to know that a book I buy could start with the record of the Eagles & end with that of the King, I’m more than happy to have it.

What fascinates me towards this form of the music, though I was born in the Michael Jackson era, is that it has a uniqueness that is not easily imitated. Somehow, I always felt that pop music always gravitated towards a monotonic tune, with most often songs centered on only ‘love’. Not that I hate love or something, but it becomes stale after a time. While I still do love someone like Bryan Adams, who can deliver a ‘Summer of 69’, most of the other ‘high on glam & low on talent’ performers do bore the hell out of me after the first two videos in which the divas are clothed scantly.

Fine, this is becoming to much a ‘music’ based article. The point I was making is about note books with actual records of the ‘Gramophone Era’ being recycled & used as their covers. Michaels Roger Press has launched record notebooks whose covers are crafted from old records. The original old records! Now I wonder hoe many of these will be of high-profile performers. I also wonder if they have a custom design mode of operation, where I can call in & order what I’m looking for. I highly doubt that though.

All in all, the idea sounds great. It saves paper & recycles some old records. It sure has takers, like yours truly. Now if could only get one with ‘Hotel California’ on top & ‘Can’t help falling in love with you’ at the back. Maybe the other way around is also just fine… Hmmm
