Estrella Sustainable Nightclub is a perfect example of ecofriendly entertainment

Estrella

The Estrella (meaning star in Spanish) Sustainable Nightclub has been designed by Michael Goodsmith and stands true to its name as it is a renovated structure located in West VIllage of New York City. The night club will be completely revamped into a swanky nightclub which has a piezoelectric dance floor and other ways of harnessing alternative energy sources.

Goodsmith aims to use the existing building to create the nightclub. However, he has made additions in the form of roof space and an outdoor lounge that would harness wind and solar power. There are many qualities of the nightclub that make it sustainable and green – the surface materials are extremely durable; LED lighting has been used; the furnishings are of long-lasting quality; there are garden sculptures that have been incorporated in the interiors for better filtering of air and there is also a water wall designed to cool the dance floor as well.

Apart from all this, the usage of renewable energy sources – namely wind and solar power – have been optimally incorporated. There are three wind turbines that are extremely eco-friendly and do not produce any sound whatsoever. Furthermore, the dance floor is of the ‘piezoelectric’ concept wherein the vibrations of the dancers is converted into electricity that is utilized for powering the sound equipment and lighting the nightclub.

The Estrella nightclub will have a very organic menu as it will offer drink menu and tapas that is grown locally and organically. Turning a nightclub into a power-generating self-sufficient business is an incredible achievement and is a great inspiration for the entertainment and hospitality industries to follow suit and invest in being ‘green’ and sustainable.
