Seems like the ‘Sunshine State’ is once again going all out in an effort to ramp up its green energy with Governor Jerry Brown just setting a new clean energy target that wishes to see over 3 million homes being powered by eco-friendly power. While his predecessor had plenty of ideas and projected figures for renewable energy sources and their utilization in the state of California, Jerry Brown seems to have taken all that further up with his latest announcement. The man at the helm of things wants 12-Gigawatts of clean power by 2020 and he is willing to back, wind, solar, fuel cell and any other possible green energy source to achieve the goal.
The announcement of this new target came at a gathering of more than 200 energy experts at UCLA as new plans are already being set in motion to tap into solar energy and wind energy on a larger scale in near future. Of course, the bigger challenge in front of the state will be to put an infrastructure in place that can flawlessly supply this clean energy from the source (like barren desert land) to the big cities
According to experts in the renewable energy field, it will take more risk and investment in the transportation of clean energy from the source to the consumer than actual generation and the state of California must have a long term energy distribution service that will look at this aspect in detail and address the concerns that come along.
Experts suggest energy saving solution and smarter urban buildings clad in photovoltaic panels that will be self sufficient and in course of time ‘zero-energy’ structures. But it will take plenty of effort, careful planning and widespread awareness for Gov. Jerry Brown’s target to come true. But in case of California, both the will to go green and the natural resources required exist in plenty. Hence, one can only hope that the forecast will come true.
