Toyota plans to introduce flexible-fuel cars in US by 2008

toyota9Amid the increasing demand for ethanol-powered vehicles across the world, Toyota has intelligently banked on US, planning to sell these hybrid cars there by 2008. It is in the latest push by the Japanese carmaker into segments, which are dominated by the Detroit-based manufacturers; this plan is made, according to a company executive.

Toyota will start selling a vehicle, which is flexible-fuelled and can be powered by up to 85 per cent ethanol or ordinary petrol. Ethanol is a fuel made from plants such as corn or sugar cane.
