Strongest biodegradable glue from bacteria discovered

caulobacter crescentusIt is the strongest glue known to exist in nature that helps a common bacterium clings to the inside of water pipes. A team of scientists including an Indiana University biologist inform this.

Do you know, the bacteria can withstand a force equivalent to five tons per square inch!? It is the pressure three or four cars balanced atop a quarter can exert. It is unimaginable! The bacterium is named Caulobacter crescentus.

The super adhesive can contribute hugely not only in the field of surgery, but also can be ground breaking for the environment. It can be used as biodegradable glue, easily replacing sutures and staples in surgery.

The produces of the bacteria could be mass-produced for engineering and medical purposes, theoretically. If successful, the nature would be relief of huge surgical wastes like sutures and staples.
