Scientists are developing tough plants that can not only survive freezing Arctic climate or scalding deep-sea vents, but can also be surviving hostile environment of outer space! To engineer these amazing crops, they used genes from microorganisms that thrive in the freezing Arctic and deep down the sea climate.
Not only earth, these plants may someday be grown in greenhouses on Mars or on a spacecraft! It could be used to help purify air and water as well as feed astronauts. Sounds interesting!
