After lead has been removed from gasoline, it is now the turn for the sulfur to bid goodbye, leaving a sigh of relief to the environment. The highway fuels will no more be the major concern for global warming once sulfur is successfully lowered, if not removed, from the global highways.
The tanks of a vast majority of trucks and buses in the US will be filled with diesel fuel with just 3 percent of the sulfur content in the older fuel this Sunday. As sulfur, like that of lead, too generate air pollution, leading not only to severe health consequences, but also disable the fine-tuned pollution control devices – this reduction of sulfur production from gasoline is a real major breakthrough towards solving global warming.
