New program to help tackle climate change, renewable power generation

international energy agency 9To help countries develop more energy-efficient electricity transmission and distribution networks, a new five-year international co-operation and collaboration program — IEA Implementing Agreement — Electricity Networks Analysis, Research and Development (ENARD) — has been launched. It is supported by the International Energy Agency.

To help tackle challenges which include climate change, the renewable power generation growth, the new agreement is focusing on developing and sharing new technologies and best practice.
It will also help replace the ageing network asset base and the rapid shifts in energy supply-and-demand global patterns.
