It is difficult to create a new suite of potential anti-cancer drugs in a lab! But, scientists seeming to lose no hope are making it using bacteria! The University of Warwick researchers are examining a way of using these organisms to do what they otherwise could not synthetically!
The bacterium Streptomyces coelicolor produce antibiotics – prodiginines – naturally. This antibiotics-group is capable of targeting and killing cancer cells.
