Washing dishes by hand is the most energy-efficient way of all however our laziness and lack of extra time has made us dependent on machines such as the dishwasher. Dishwashers are no way energy efficient, they use electricity for washing and for drying them.
Dishwashers need to go green like all other electronic items. Bosch is looking to change the trends with their new ultrasonic dishwasher that they claim will be more energy-efficient. They have filed a patent that describes a machine:
“A dishwasher machine (1), in particular a domestic dishwasher machine, is described, comprising a washing container (2) and devices for washing items to be washed by means of washing solution, as well as a sound wave generator (5), wherein the sound wave generator (5) is used to generate a sound wave which at least assists the drying process of the items to be washed. In order to achieve the highest possible efficiency of the drying process, the sound wave generator (5) is designed to deliver sound waves of different frequency and/or amplitude’
Conventional methods incorporated in a dishwasher are a heater and a fan, the heater heats the dishes while they are being washed since they retain the thermal energy after the wash procedure the dishes come out dry. This method is not energy-efficient; Bosch on the other hand wants to use sound waves to dry out the dishes. Sound waves vibrate the dishes breaking the water droplets into even fine droplets, these drops and then further dried out by a fan. Though the dishes don’t come out completely dry they can be left in the open and let the air do the rest.
