Fume is fuel with ‘Greenbox’ – a way ahead for greener driving

Apparently, vehicles are running our lives making us slave of indolence and sending us into jaws of climatic variation, emitting greenhouse gasses.

Many great minds in collaboration with the fortunes of the finest corporations, over the years have failed to solve the problem of carbon emissions, but three fishing buddies – one organic chemist and two engineers, have cracked into the quandary, finding a greener solution for the same.

The trio from Northern Wales has developed this device, they call “Greenbox”, which can clean up the exhaust from the engine and turn it into cleaner water vapor. Fixed underneath the car replacing the exhaust, Greenbox captures carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide, feeding it to genetically modified algae, it converts the captured gasses into biofuel.

Greenbox very efficiently gulps up the waste, but requires a replacement at every fill up – i.e. a new container is fixed for the replaced, as the latter is sent to the bioreactor, where the algae is crushed and the diesel fuel is extracted. The process may seem complicated but it will surely help reduce the peril of carbon emissions.

Derek Palmer, Ian Houston and John Jones are the minds behind the technology, which they claim, can be used for cars, buses, lorries and eventually buildings and heavy industry, including power plants. The trio has set up a company called Maes Anturio Limited, and is in contact with international car-makers like Toyota Motor and General Motors.

Many successful tests have been carried out, with the motive of luring the government or private funding to improve their device for better market response – and we presume until then the trio wouldn’t let anyone peep into their magical box to see what’s in there.
