Solar cells have not remained the same as they were half a decade ago, they have now gone more efficient and not to mention beautiful.

Solient Energy’s Heliotube is on the efficient side. The amazing solar panel will soon be covering car parks. Solient Energy is a start-up making doing concentrating photovoltaic systems, which makes use of mirrored tubes that focus light onto solar cells resulting in an increased electricity output.

The Heliotube design is so flexible that the company has modified it for car parks or roofs that shade cars during the day. The company also stated that they knew that they had gained expertise in making large solar panels, something that ordinary solar cells can’t do.

To convert the roof optimized Heliotube design to be used in car parks the company used the same technique but this time they integrated together 16 tubes instead of 10 that focus light onto solar cells. This increase in tubes has increased the size of the parking lot optimized solar panel to about 8-feet. The product will be shipping by the end of this year.
