Electronics industry is undergoing a revolution with more and more components of your beloved computer system going green. We earlier told you about green hard drives, now it is the turn of the god of a computer system that is its power supply to go green.
Corsair has launched a new VX series that is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the power supply unit. These supplies confirm to the Energy Star 2007 standard as well as the 80Plus efficiency rating. These systems come with a single +12V power rail, which according to the company delivers continuous power under heavy loads. The company also claims that the power supply unit can get 80% or more energy efficiency under a large range of loading conditions.
The supplies are mainly aimed at HTPCs as they generate minimal heat and also incorporate a quiet fan design. The VX Series is available in 450W and 550W models, which are priced at $86 and $100 respectively.
