Snaky looking e-snake

esnake

What will strike you first when you see this three wheeled electric motorcycle, or should we call it a trike, is its ungainliness. The e-snake is all metal with an exposed frame making it look more like a step up from a bicycle. Though the all metal frame bodied e-snake is not a contender for any trike-beauty contest, we wouldn’t go far enough to call it ugly.

The design in itself makes the e-snake look very rugged and this cannot be said of too many other electric vehicles which look flimsy in the least. This ruggedness endows the e-snake a weight of about 350 pounds, considerable for an electric vehicle. But this E-snake trike concept has plenty of punch in its wheels.

Yes, this trike’s rear wheels have a brushless motor each running on lithium batteries to power up the e-snake. The e-snake has won awards for acceleration and its 31 mph top speed at the Formula electric and hybrid Italy 2007 student competition. The e-snake has a surprisingly long range of 62 miles per charge, this considering its stellar performance numbers.

It handles like a real motorcycle with it leaning into corners helped by a hydraulic system. This will certainly make the zippy e-snake a hoot to ride across the urban maelstrom. Snaking through traffic has just got a whole better with the e-snake, albeit a green one at that.
